The list of trusted thematic data repositories on Recherche Data Gouv has been updated. This third version follows the methodology defined by the Research Data Council and aims to help research teams select repository solutions recognised by their communities.
Selecting the right repository is crucial for ensuring the quality of metadata, maximising the visibility of datasets and facilitating their potential reuse. The proposed list is not intended to be exhaustive; rather, it is designed to provide reliable guidelines. The absence of a repository from the list does not necessarily indicate that it does not meet the trustworthiness criteria.
This new version is based on extensive work to harmonise and standardise the information describing the already listed repositories. This in-depth work now enables a more consistent and readable display on the Recherche Data Gouv portal, with more detailed information, particularly regarding the repositories’ long-term sustainability and embargo conditions.
However, the evaluation criteria remain unchanged from the previous version of the methodological note.
Several new thematic repositories have been added to the list.
In the humanities and social sciences: Pangloss, dedicated to rare languages;
In astronomy and astrophysics: – Kinetic Database for Astrochemistry (KIDA) and Plasma Physics Data Center (CDPP)
In biology: The Image Data Resource (IDR) for cell biology and the BioImage Archive for bioimaging.
The list is intended to be updated regularly. Communities are invited to propose additional repositories based on the criteria defined in the methodological note.
