Not all research data is intended to be open. The principle of ‘as open as possible, as closed as necessary’ continues to guide data sharing. But how can this principle be applied in practice?

This resource will guide you through the process of determining whether your data can be made open.

  • Partnership agreements: What do your agreements say? Are there any restrictions to adhere to?
  • The nature of your data: some data, such as personal data or data derived from physical materials, requires enhanced protection.

This resource is the first joint project between the INRAE Reference Centre (specifically the Directorate for Open Science, DipSO) and the DoRANum Resource Centre, as part of the Research Data Gov ecosystem. The agenda includes a clear guide to assessing the feasibility of opening your data, taking into account any contractual clauses and specific regulations that may apply.

After all, properly shared data is compliant data!
