The issue of software in open science has only recently become part of the current momentum, but it builds on a long history of connections between free software and research.
At the national level, the second edition of the National Plan for Open Science includes an entire section on software, which materialized in 2022 through:
- the creation of a Source Codes and Software College within the Open Science Committee
- the first Open Source Research Awards to be presented in February 2022.
At European level, the EOSC (European Open Science Cloud) initiative supports various research software projects such as Everse.
Alongside these strategic initiatives, many resources and discussion forums (in French) can be found on the websites of the DevLog and Calcul networks:
- DevLog, network of stakeholders in software development in Higher Education and Research
- Calcul : network for scientific computing community
