In scientific research, publications have traditionally been the main way of disseminating knowledge. They are increasingly based on underlying data and analyses. Journal publishers, institutions and funding agencies now strongly encourage, or even require, the deposit of data associated with publications in data repositories. Therefore, sharing this data is an important factor in the quality of research work.
