For a number of years, Université Grenoble Alpes has been committed to open science, encouraging the publication of research, data, code, and software in line with national and international context. Its relies on a network of stakeholders. Supporting the open science community (publications, data, codes and software LIEN INTERNE VERS LES RUBRIQUES SOCLE) is at the heart of its actions.

Open Science Master Plan

As part of its commitment to open science, the UGA adopted its Open Science Master Plan, which the Executive Board unanimously approved on October 13, 2022.

The plan consists of four challenges and 21 actions.

  • Challenge 1: Make the UGA’s research data and code strategy more effective through appropriate governance and coordination of the involved parties.
  • Challenge 2: Move towards best practices by complying with local, national, and European regulations and recommendations, as well as committing to the principle of open data.
  • Challenge 3: Improve support throughout the lifecycle of data, code, and software.
  • Challenge 4: Improve open editions and publications.

Open Science Chart

On October 13, 2022, the Executive Board unanimously adopted the master plan. On December 8, 2022, the full Academic Council unanimously adopted the first version of the Open Science Charter text.
Working groups led by members of the Open Science Commission, chaired by the President of the Academic Board, drew up the charter, which covers four themes:

  • Open data, codes, and software.
  • Open Publications
  • TrainingEevaluation.

In line with the master plan, the charter outlines the UGA’s recommendations and commitments regarding open science.

Commission science ouverte

The UGA Open Science Commission was established in spring 2021 under the direction of Academic Council President Caroline Bertonèche.
The commission will coordinate various stakeholders involved in open science, including research clusters, organizations, the doctoral college, and scientific publications, by exchanging information.
The commission’s work focuses on open-access publications, research data management, and training, as well as codes and software.
The commission’s objectives include helping to define the institution’s open science policy and proposing recommendations and actions related to open science, such as training and evaluation.
In 2022, the committee drafted an open science charter.

The committee has 25 members:

  • The President of the Academic Board
  • Six representatives from the research clusters
  • one representative from each research organization (CNRS, INRIA, INRAE, INSERM, and CEA);
  • One representative from the University Hospital
  • One representative from the Doctoral College
  • Two representatives from the Academic Council’s Research Committee
  • One representative from the Documentary Council.
  • One representative from the Centre Mersenne.
  • One representative from UGA Éditions.
  • One representative from MSH PROGEDO Digital Humanities
  • One open science referent from France Université
  • Two open science officers
