Presentation

The Codes Data Grenoble Alpes (CDGA) Office, led by GRICAD and BAPSO, is an operational structure designed to support the scientific communities of Grenoble in all matters relating to research data and codes.

It has been awarded the Data management cluster label as part of the french Recherche Data Gouv ecosystem since June 2022.

As part of the international CURIOSS ecosystem, it was recognised as an OSPO for UGA in 2025.

Composition

The CDGA office brings together a variety of complementary skills in order to answer all questions and deploy the necessary tools to support the scientific communities of the Grenoble Alpes site in their research data and code needs:

  • Informatics, scientific computing
  • Scientific and technical information
  • Legal

It is made up of members from the Support and Research Unit GRICAD, the university libraries (BAPSO) and laboratories.

Missions

  • We aim to answer scientists’ questions about the entire life cycle of research data and codes. If you have any questions, please email sos-data[at]univ-grenoble-alpes.fr or sos-codes-recherche[at]univ-grenoble-alpes.fr.
  • We provide first-level support in conjunction with the central services, particularly with regard to the use of data and codes and the legal aspects.
  • We raise awareness and provide training, particularly for doctoral students, on the management of research data, codes and software (issues, good practice, tools and resources).
  • Raise awareness of the environmental impact of data and code.
  • We propose tools and services, and disseminate best practices for making data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable).
  • We also propose tools and services, and disseminate best practices, for the development of research codes.
  • Lead the network of laboratory data referents.
  • Build and share a knowledge base on issues related to research data and codes.
  • Monitor legal and technical developments.
  • Participate in national, European and international initiatives.
